Journal of Oncology Practice: Reducing Unwarranted Oncology Care Variation Across a Clinically Integrated Network: A Collaborative Physician Engagement Strategy

This QURE project included >100 medical oncologists across 15 different practices in Advocate’s clinically integrated network. Over 6 rounds of measurement and feedback, overall evidence-based care quality scores increased 12%, unnecessary test ordering declined 25% ($313 per patient) and appropriate palliative care referrals increased 56%. These improvements are validated in the claims data, showing significant declines in real-world unneeded testing.
