Journal of Clinical Rheumatology: Variations and practice in the care of patients with rheumatoid arthritis: quality and cost of care
This first study shows the baseline variability in care we saw among practicing rheumatologists and makes the case that better diagnostic tests are needed. The second study, “Impact of Rheumatoid Arthritis Disease Activity Test on Clinical Practice” published in PLOS ONE, shows the positive impact that the diagnostic test had on the quality of care delivered to the simulated rheumatoid arthritis patients. It specifically demonstrates clinical utility through the quality and cost-effectiveness of disease assessment and treatment decisions.
