Current Medical Research and Opinion: Primary Care Variability in Patients at Higher Risk for Colorectal Cancer: Evaluation of Screening and Preventive Care Practices on in Assessing Renal Allograft Rejection: A National Assessment of Nephrology Practice
This baseline study, performed by QURE, was looking to determine variability in screening and preventive care practices for colorectal cancer (CRC). While 81% of participants ordered appropriate CRC work-up in patients at risk for CRC, with a majority (71%) referring for colonoscopy, only 6% counseled patients on their higher risk for CRC. The second paper, “Clinical Utility of a Blood-based Protein Assay on Diagnostic Colonoscopy Referrals for Elevated-risk Colorectal Cancer Patients in Primary Care” shows evidence of clinical utility of the test.
